UNPROFITABILITY OF SHIP OWNING
The problems facing a shipowner in obtaining an adequate return on capital investment are examined, with emphasis on the British dry cargo trades. Factors considered include--government subsidies/ buying and selling ships/ influence of operating costs/ age of ships/ accounting practices/ and relation to ancillary business.
