Investigation and Preventive Repair Strategy for North Breakwater Dome at Wakkanai Port

稚内港北防波堤ドームの点検調査と補修計画

The reinforced concrete north breakwater dome (427.6 m long) built at the Port of Wakkanai, Hokkaido was built in 1936. It works as a protective facility not only for the port but also for a pedestrian passageway. Renovation was carried out from 1978-1981 because of aging problems, and seismic retrofi tting was followed from 1999-2002. However, over more than 30 years after the renovation, further deterioration has progressed including cracks, delamination, spalling of cover concrete and corrosion of steel reinforcement. Since the dome has been registered in the civil engineering heritage list and played a landmark of sightseeing spots, strategic repair is required to setup taken into account structural performance recovery and aesthetic preservation. This technical report presents the results of structural assessment and consideration of the repair strategy based on the preventive maintenance scheme.</p><p>稚内港にある北防波堤ドーム（延長427.6m）は，1936年に竣工，1978～1981年に全面改修，1999～2002年には柱部の耐震補強を中心とした改修が実施されている。全面改修から既に30年を越えて劣化が進み，2012年には銘板が落下するなど第三者被害にもつながりかねない事故が発生したことから，構造物の劣化状況の詳細調査と評価，優先度を考慮した適切な補修計画の立案が求められた。特に，本施設は北海道遺産等に選定され，稚内市の重要な観光拠点にもなっていることから，美観への配慮も求められる。本稿では，この施設の劣化状況の点検調査結果および評価とそれに基づいて立案した補修計画の考え方を紹介する。
