FAA Aerospace Forecast: Fiscal Years 2018-2038
This document starts with a review of U.S. aviation in 2017. It then provides forecasts for U.S. Airlines, General Aviation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Operations, U.S. Commercial Aircraft Fleet, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Commercial Space Transportation. Forecast highlights include: U.S. carrier passenger growth over the next 20 years to average 1.9 percent per year; system traffic in revenue passenger miles is projected to increase by 2.3 percent a year between 2018 and 2038; the long term outlook for general aviation is stable to optimistic; and operations at FAA and contract towers are forecast to increase 0.9 percent a year over the forecast period. This document also looks at emerging commercial space transportation markets and UAS trends including remote pilot certifications and UAS registrations (model and non-model).
