Road management in Papua New Guinea: an evaluation of a decade of Australian support
Roads are the arteries of Papua New Guinea (PNG). They link farmers to markets and businesses to customers and enable people and communities to access services and markets. This Office of Development Effectiveness evaluation assesses a decade of Australian support (2007-2017) for the PNG Government to improve its road infrastructure through the PNG Australia Transport Sector Support Program (TSSP). The evaluation highlights the positive contribution TSSP makes to improve the lives of ordinary Papua New Guineans and identifies a number of TSSP’s important achievements. However, the evaluation also identifies a number of challenges and has highlighted areas for strengthening.
