New York City Adds Constructed Wetland to Staten Island's Bluebelt System
Construction was completed in late 2017 of a new wetland, as part of the innovative Bluebelt Program for managing stormwater in Staten Island, New York City. The latest wetland is located on the site of a former stormwater detention pond and receives drainage from 209 acres of primarily residential properties and streets, providing 6 acre-ft of extended detention volume. Details of the $48 million project are presented in this article.
