THE EQUATIONS OF A MARINE GAS-TURBINE ENGINE AS AN OBJECT OF CONTROL FOR A WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS
A mathematical description of a three-shaft marine gas-turbine engine is obtained on the basis of equations in small deviations. The engine consists of a gas-generating unit and a propeller turbine. It is assumed that the dynamic structure of the engine as an object of control remains unchanged in the examined power range. If in the linearized equations for any basic set of conditions the constant coefficients are replaced by variables in coordinate functions, the obtained nonlinear equations are assumed to describe the motion of the engine sufficiently accurately. The equations are set up by linear and piecewise-linear approximation. For one engine type operating at 0.2--1.0 rated power, it was found that when the fuel delivery is close to optimal the static and dynamic errors for speed and temperature, are 1.5 percent and 2 percent respectively. These relative errors are functions of the ordinates of the characteristics obtained from nonlinear and linear equations, respectively. The effects of the coefficients of the equations on the errors are evaluated.
