Vehicle Inspections - From Safety Device to Climate Change Tool
This article examines the history of vehicle inspections, types of vehicle inspection data collected around the world, and the uses of such data. It is hoped that this information can be instructive for Great Britain in its use of British roadworthiness (British MOT) test data, released for the first time in November of 2010. Examples from a literature review highlight usage of vehicle inspection data to aid in emissions regulation and improve road safety. In addition, potential other MOT data uses are suggested along with issues to be addressed before there can be a wider use of MOT data.
