THE DESIGN OF PAIRED COAXIAL PROPELLERS
A simple method is developed for designing a set of coaxial ship propellers. The method is based on the theory of G. I. Maykapar, D. V. Khalezov, and L. Ya. Krupenin (Teoriya i aerodinamicheskiy raschet soosnykh vintov. M., 1958), and permits calculation of the total hydrodynamic characteristics of the set without separate calculation for each propeller. Sets with finite and infinite numbers of blades are examined, and nomographs are given for designing coaxial propellers. Formulas and graphs are presented for calculating the elements of the forward and aft propellers.
