SHIPS IN THE MARINE ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT
This paper covers (i) freight transport at sea, (ii) principal cargoes and trade routes in 1976 (crude oil, oil products, iron ore, grain, coal, forest products, deep-sea general cargoes), (iii) fleets of shipping, and (iv) liner and bulk shipping (vessels for general cargo, break-bulk multi-deckers, cellular container ships, ro-ro ships, barge carriers, hybrid ships). World Merchant Fleet statistics for mid-1977 are tabulated and a conceptual gravity model for general cargo ships is appended. Order from BSRA as No. 51,515.
