SURVEY OF NOISE IN MERCHANT SHIPS
The terms in which noise is specified are defined, and mention is made of old terms and standards which are still encountered. Problems in writing specifications are outlined. The method of conducting the present survey is detailed, and the results presented graphically as octave- band and weighted total levels, giving the median value and range for various classes of ship. Observations are made about methods of noise reduction.
