RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN MEDIUM SPEED PROPULSION EMGINES IN THE VMF/STORK WERKSPOOR GROUP
The general position of medium speed diesel engines in marine propulsion is reviewed. The development and design of the TM 410 engine is detailed, covering the design philosophy, details of construction, maintenance, and measurements and tests. Some factors of integration in an installation, leading to the optimization of the complete ship, are discussed. Specific installations of the TM 410 engines in an ocean going tug and a large hopper dredger are mentioned.
