Utrecht beats bus congestion with light rail expansion
The city of Utrecht, the fourth largest in the Netherlands, known to many as a major hub in the Dutch railway network, as well as the headquarters of Netherlands Railways (NS), is undergoing an expansion and enhancement of its light rail system. The ways in which the extension of the network to the east will bring a massive capacity boost to a congested public transport corridor are reported in this article.
