Beyond Speculation: Automated Vehicles and Public Policy
Automated vehicles (AVs) have the potential to transform transportation networks in the U.S. This report looks at the state of AVs and makes policy recommends to address AV deployment. Areas discussed include: needed infrastructure and funding for that infrastructure; cybersecurity and data ownership; vehicle connectivity and communications standards; certifying automated driving systems, liability for collisions and insurance; federal safety programs; environmental programs; investing in AV research; and workforce development programs.
