Influence of the Maintenance Work and Support Conditions on the Optimization Process of Railway Concrete Sleepers

Nowadays when climate change represents the real challenge for the world to try to ensure an environmentally more sustainable future and the researchers are looking for renewable energy sources, green engineering solutions, environmentally friendly systems to reduce the air and noise pollution, and energy consumption, the railway system represents many possibilities in this subject. For the proper operation of the railway systems, it is essential to provide suitable infrastructure and good maintenance work. In this article the authors are analyzing the optimization possibilities of railway sleepers depending on the type and quality of ballasted layer. The aim of these optimization processes is to increase the serviceability life-span of the sleepers with efficient technological process, changing the support conditions according to local circumstances.
