TEXAS AIRPORT SYSTEM PLAN - AIR PASSENGER DEMAND MODEL: FORECASTING COUNTY INCOME DISTRIBUTIONS
The report presents an analysis of and a methodology for forecasting income distributions and average incomes within selected income ranges for Texas counties. While no analysis has been performed for counties in states other than Texas, it is probable that such an analysis would produce similar results. The forecasting approach described was developed as part of the effort required by the Texas Airport System Plan to design and validate a model for forecasting commercial air passenger volumes. A vital parameter in the Air Passenger Demand Model is the population percentage within each Texas county which is included in the income ranges, 0-$5,999, $6,000-$9,000, and $10,000 and over, and the average income in each range for each county. Therefore, a method was developed for production of the necessary forecasts on the basis of available historic data on county income distributions.
