Making Boating Safer

The National Safe Boating Council, through its partnership with the United States (U.S.) Coast Guard and other boating safety partners and volunteers nationwide, demonstrates how successful a boating safety campaign can be, and how effective it is. There is no doubt that a comprehensive outreach and education initiative must include multiple components and include social media campaigns. What better way to deliver a message than through free social media outlets? With a compelling message, a Facebook post or a tweet can have a great impact on reaching key demographic as well as stakeholders who may also become influencers. In addition, the true value of a safety campaign can not only deliver the message itself, but also impact community. Whatever the measure of success may be, whether it’s better life jacket usage or confirmation that a message has a lasting effect on a community, this approach is useful in and outside the recreational boating safety community.
