WORK STUDY AFLOAT ON COMMON BROTHERS BULKCARRIER
A work study team comprising two Common Bros. Management Services Department members and two staff from the Management Services Department of the British Shipping Federation, have been placed aboard the 33,000-t dw bulkcarrier Simonburn and are carrying out a complete study of shipboard activities. The team will attempt to identify and assess the time and cost spent on different types of work throughout the ship. Important areas for investigation include the removal and repair of machinery components, the maintenance of cargo gear, hatchcovers and other deck equipment, cabin service and the use of galley equipment. Other British work study projects are mentioned.
