FUNCTIONS WITH CONTROLLED CURVATURE DISTRIBUTION FOR SHIP SURFACE DEFINITION
Shipbuilding from the earliest design concepts to its actual production stage requires the use of many different mathematical functions to express the hull form. Computerized automation of shipbuilding has been hindered because the designer likes flexibility while production needs accuracy in detail and hydrodynamic optimization requires the simplicity of equations and easy operation with some degree of freedom. Reconciliation of these differences is the subject of this paper which presents a mathematical tool that can be applied to the design, optimization and production of a ship.
