BI-DRUM MARINE BOILERS

The problems of increased maintenance required by marine boilers during the period when steam conditions advanced and the quality of residual fuel deteriorated are reviewed. The ways in which modern boilers meet these problems are examined, with explanation of the advantages offered by the following features--completely water-cooled furnace, roof mounted burners, twin vertical superheaters, many generous access spaces, widely pitched in-line tube banks, and large diameter drums.
