SHIP MANEUVERABILITY SIMULATION PROGRAM
Ship maneuverability must be investigated earlier in the design stages of vessels such as large tankers which are characterized by decreased length-to-breadth ratio and increased block coefficient. Containerships and car ferries also present maneuverability problems due to the large lateral area above the water line. A new technique for assessing maneuverability early in the design stage is the ship maneuverability computer simulation program. This computer program embraces all present sea trial tests except stopping. Computer simulation, model tests and sea trials show good agreement.
