CO₂ Reduction Technologies for the European Car and Van Fleet, A 2025-2030 Assessment: Methodology and Summary of Compliance Costs for Potential EU CO₂ Standards
This document develops a set of carbon dioxide (CO₂) cost curves for light-duty vehicles in the European Union. Costs are estimated through 2030. The methodology for developing the curves is discussed and the curves are used to estimate compliance costs for a range of potential CO₂ standards. Sections include: incorporating off-cycle CO₂ credits; costs assumed for road-load reduction technology; learning and indirect cost assumptions; test flexibility and performance-based adjustments; estimating CO₂ emission rates; this analysis as compared with cost estimates from an earlier 2012–2013 analysis; and interpreting compliance costs.
