Internal transport vehicles in the form of platform trailers and self-propelled vehicles have recently been designed in accordance with regulations governing the roadworthiness of roadgoing heavy-load vehicles. These vehicles are predominantly employed in shipyards where they transport heavy ship sections. Paper describes different design principles, types and drives, and means used to transmit driving forces to the ground.
