CONTROLLING TRANSPORT MOTION WITH FLUIDICS
Fluidic systems with potential applications in the document sorting and handling processes are described. Document transport is controlled by activation of accelerating and decelerating jets which move documents along an air bearing cushion. Such a system has the potential, it is felt, of handling upwards of 50,000 documents/hr a rate far in excess of the capacity of mechanical driving and gating techniques.
