Emergency Medical Services: Agenda for the Future

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agenda for the Future provides an opportunity for all health care providers to examine what has been learned during the past 30 years. Its purpose is to outline the most important directions for future EMS development. During the process of creating this document, the EMS Agenda for the Future Steering Committee sought and incorporated input from a broad, multi-disciplinary spectrum of EMS stakeholders. This project was supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau. This document focuses on aspects of EMS related to emergency care outside traditional health care facilities. It recognizes the changes occurring in the health care system of which EMS is a part.
