FORD EXPERIMENTAL SAFETY VEHICLE
The objectives, rationale, design descriptions, and test program of the Ford ESV are summarized. Comparisons are drawn between the Ford ESV design and a production Ford Galaxie, which was used as a starting point for the design. In general, the information contained in the document is in addition to data previously presented at the International Technical Conference for Experimental Safety Vehicles and Technical sessions of the Society of Automotive Engineers. The main emphasis is on the general description and rationale of the vehicle and its systems rather than the engineering theory necessary for meeting the contract specifications.
