HEAVY CONCRETE BLOCKS FOR MOLE CONSTRUCTION WORK OFF THE DUTCH WEST COAST
SCHWERE BENTON BLOECKE FUER DEN MOLENBAU VOR HOLLANDS WESTKUESTE
Increasing shipping and the use of ships of more than 100,000-t deadweight necessitates not only deep navigable channels but also wide harbor entrances. It is for this reason that extensive causeways have been constructed in the harbor entrances of the Hook and sGravenhage. Fabrication of the concrete blocks for the mole, weighing up to 43-t, and the special ships used for block transport and placement, are described.
