Point of View: Key Issues for Aviation: Ensuring Safety, Enabling Innovation
In this article, the author, a Federal Aviation Administrator, discusses the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) proactive, data-driven, risk-based approach to aviation safety. New innovations including unmanned aircraft and commercial space operations require the FAA to be flexible and responsive to the needs of industry. The author briefly outlines the FAA's response to drones including implementing an online registration platform and regulating small drones.
