Technische und medizinische Analyse toedlicher Motorradunfaelle
Technical and medical analysis of fatal motorcycle accidents
(A) ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: Motorcycle riders still represent a particularly vulnerable group of road users. The number of seriously injured and killed motorcyclists is still at the same level as in 2008. In order to contribute to reducing the number of accidents and injured motorcycle riders, 120 fatal motorcycle accidents, which are included in the database of the Institute of Legal Medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, are analyzed from a technical and medical point of view. The most common type of accident is the driving accident, followed by accidents when turning off or turning in/crossing. In about two thirds of the cases, a car is the opposing party. When looking at the most injured body regions, head and thorax dominate. 93 % of the motorcyclists have serious injuries AIS 3+ in the thoracic region, more than 60 % have serious head injuries. As part of further studies, the kinematics of the motorcyclist and the impact constellations are to be examined in detail in order to promote targeted actions in the fields of active and passive safety.
