Abstract: The Papaloapan River Bridge is a bridge of cable-stayed type located at the kilometer 85 + 980 highway the Tinaja-Acayucan in Veracruz State, Mexico, it was put into service in the year of 1995, has a total length of 407 m, with a clear maximum of 206 m and is suspended for 8 semi-arpas of 14 straps each of them. The importance of this bridge within the federal highway network in Mexico is essential, since it allows the economic exchange between the Centre and South of the country, is also a structure to which you have made strong economic investment studies and preventive maintenance during its lifetime due to an inappropriate construction process. The above gives the Papaloapan River Bridge as an ideal and strategic structure for the implementation of a system of continuous monitoring in real time in order to ensure the safety of users and its structural integrity. To achieve the objectives set, in December 2012 settled in the Papaloapan River Bridge, 24 deformation gauges, 24 accelerometers, inclinometers 8, 1 displacement sensor, 2 video cameras, a weather station and a seismological station, which integrate the system of remote monitoring continuous real-time energized through 94 photovoltaic cells. The information received by installed sensors is used to generate statistical distributions of live loads on the bridge, records trendlines, calibrate mathematical models for the search of global damage in the structure, perform prognosis of structural integrity through Monte-Carlo simulation and calculating indices of reliability of the Papaloapan River Bridge. This paper presents some of the first results of the structural assessment and strategies that have been implemented for the management, use and analysis of the information collected in these first months of monitoring.
