CHOCKING LARGE ENGINES SIMPLIFIED

A resin which gels in 30 to 60 min and hard cures in 6 to hr at room temperature is cast in situ to support such items as propulsion diesel engines and large steam turbine reduction gears. The compound flows readily, conforming to all surface irregularities and making it unnecessary to machine the base plate or foundation to provide a perfectly fitted support. The PR610TC resin provides a 100 percent bearing surface, does not shrink or burn and is not affected by oil or chemicals. It can be machined if required. Tests have shown that there is no frettage or settlement even after several years of service. Details of the chocking procedure are given, and technical data for the resin.
