Fall Prevention System for Ceilings in Station
There were victims of falling ceilings in the 2011 Earthquake off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku. The authors are thus promoting fall prevention measures from the point of view of safety of station buildings. It takes a large amount of construction costs and time to relocate equipment already installed in the ceiling space by the brace construction method. The authors thus developed a support construction method to cut down cost and time. The authors carried out static loading tests and dynamic vibration table tests in order to confirm the fall prevention performance of the support construction method and were able to identify the role and performance requirement of each member in the support construction method. The effectiveness and validity of the developed method could be confirmed from the results and analysis.
