Raising the Baar for battery-powered trains

A static recharging station for battery-powered trains, which targets low-capacity lines currently reliant on diesel traction, has been developed. It is based on a system that has been used on buses since 2010 and helps to reduce fuel and energy consumption. It utilizes a platform side station concept, making it more versatile and substantially less expensive than the use of existing overhead electrification structures. The project is currently in the concept phase.
