Air Traffic Control
This chapter analyzes the job of the air traffic controller (also known as the air navigation service provider) and explores the technology that will be increasingly important in air traffic control (ATC) and the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). The authors examine ATC workload; cognition that underlies the controller's job; collaboration among controllers; error, risk and safety; and, controller selection factors.
