SERIES FEEDER SHIP DESIGN FOR VARIABLE SPECIALITIES

Ten totally different versions from the same basic parameters are offered in the Porter class of short sea ships designed by Sea Transport Engineering N.V. of Amsterdam. The ships are built around the 6-cylinder TM 410 Werkspoor engine developing 3000 bhp at 500 rpm, reduced to 250 rpm. The vessels are divided into five standard sections (accommodation machinery space, upper midbody, lower midbody, and forward end), and for each of these five items a number of standard designs for general cargo, cattle boat, Ro-Ro, bulk carrier, chemical tanker, bulk-container-car carrier, and special pallet ship.
