THE USE OF SOIL MECHANICS IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGE FOUNDATIONS
This report discusses the importance of soil mechanics in civil engineering. It gives the process a soil engineer would use in the design of bridge foundations, including a check list of 1) elevations of footings, 2) spread footings on earth or rock or both, 3) piles, 4) scour, 5) ground water and river water, and 6) effect of roadway fill.
