A STUDY OF THE CONVERSION OF DBA TO EQUIVALENT OCTAVE BAND PRESSURE LEVEL CONTOURS FOR SHIPBOARD SPACES
A technique for converting dBA to equivalent octave band pressure level contours has been developed based on the statistics of the available space data of the DLG-12, LCC-20 and AKA-113 type surface ships. For the available data, it is shown that there is no statistically significant difference between measured dBA values, obtained directly by an A-weighted sound level meter, and calculated dBA values, obtained by exercising an algorithm which approximates the A-weighted filter of a sound level meter.
