EXPLOSIONS IN TANKERS. SOME METHODS OF PREVENTION INCLUDING GAS-FREEING AND VENTING
A survey is given of what has happened to tankers in the past in the way of mishaps. Some of the inert-gas systems employed and equipment used for tank cleaning and gas dispersal are outlined. Design features and cargo handling procedures to improve tanker safety are recommended.
