INNOVATIONS IN HIGH SPEED AUTOMATED SHIP UNLOADING
ZWEI HOCHLEISTUNGSVERFAHREN DER AUTOMATISCHEN SCHIFFSENTLADUNG
A power station in the United States has put into operation a bucket-wheel unloading installation capable of unloading up to 4500-tph of coal from barges warped underneath. An American firm has also developed a ship-mounted unloading system for coastal vessels carrying phosphate, similar in design to the bin-slot- discharge method used in Germany. The first two 26,000-t ships have each been equipped with four grabbing-arm unloading wheels mounted in pairs on two unloading trucks. Nominal handling rate is 3000-tph.
