The problems arising from nonstandardized cargo containers, especially refrigerated containers, are discussed. The various sizes of containers and types of refrigerating systems used in the United States are mentioned and the disadvantages due to lack of standardization are cited. British, European and Japanese practice is described as superior to American. The future use of liquid nitrogen refrigeration is recommended.
