MATERIALS RESEARCH FOR HYDROFOIL MANUFACTURE
RECHERCHES SUR LES MATERIAUX ADAPTES A LA FABRICATION D'HYDROPTERES
A detailed research work has been carried out on materials to be used for the manufacture of hydrofoil assemblies and hulls. The materials studied included six different steels and titanium alloys; emphasis was placed on fatigue corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and weldability using the TIG, plasma, and electron beam welding techniques. Friction and cavitation problems arising from heavy sea conditions have also been studied.
