NEW FLOATING CLAMSHELL DREDGE USES HYDRAULIC HOIST EQUIPMENT
A description of a prototype for a new series of floating clam-shell dredges, which utilize hydraulic hoists instead of double drum electric hoists, is given. The operation of this dredge includes its automatic control mode, which allows the dredge to lower the bucket, fill it up, raise the bucket to the surface, and to empty the fill into the material receiving hopper. The electro-hydraulic power unit, dredge machinery, flotation units, and the bucket itself are all described in the article.
