THIN CUSHION OF FORCED AIR MAKES LOADING JOB A BREEZE
U.S Navy engineers claim they have developed a specially designed pallet for an air bearing system that can safely and more rapidly move cargo into and out of a container. An air bearing is simple in design. It is a rubber bag shaped like a doughnut and mounted on a plate. Air is continuously supplied inside the bag by a standard compressor. A hose, that can be of varying length, connects the compression to a pallet coupling, the bag then inflates somewhat like an inner tube.
