ALUMINIUM ALLOY FOR ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS
For economical reasons it is desirable to replace copper by aluminium in electrical conductors. The low mechanical strength and poor contact properties of EC aluminium (electrical conductor grade aluminium with a conductivity of min 61% IACS) prevents its use in many applications. A new aluminium alloy intended for cables, conductors and magnet wire has been developed. This alloy possesses good mechanical properties and a high conductivity. A low and stable contact resistance is obtained in connections and terminations.
