Permanent Partner: Traveler Information Services in the Infrastructure
This article describes many of the technological advances in the field of vehicle to infrastructure communications. The author notes that technology will soon begin to play a more sizeable role in how cars are driven. Topics covered include car-centric thinking and economics; emergency vehicle prioritization; the role of street lighting; tunnel safety; pedestrian safety, including the use of smart pedestrian light signals; weather detection; traffic management centers (TMCs); and the role of smart sensors in various contexts.
