IMPROVED INFORMATION, SIGNS AND INDICATORS FOR PASSENGERS IN STATIONS
L'EVOLUTION DE LA SIGNALISATION ET DE L'ENFORMATION DES VOYAGEURS DANS LES GARES
The author is an S.N.C.F. Chief Architect responsible for the Buildings Department. In this article he outlines the historical background of the development of the display of information for passengers in stations over the years; he gives precise details of the present situation in this respect. He states the criteria with which signs and indicators must comply and the principles on which they are based. He explains the various systems so far adopted in relation to the different types of information that need to be provided, in particular so that passengers arriving at the station can find their coach without difficulty.
