Implementing the Freight Transportation Data Architecture: Data Element Dictionary
This report provides the findings of the research effort to develop a freight data dictionary for organizing the myriad freight data elements currently in use. The research identifies differences in data element definitions and methods for bridging those differences where appropriate. A product of this research effort is a searchable and sustainable web-based freight data element dictionary for transportation analysis that will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). A temporary link to the freight data dictionary web application is currently available at http://freightdatadictionary.com.
