A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF THE WIND ON THE OVERHEAD CONTACT LINE CONDUCTORS
ETUDE DE L'ACTION DU VENT SUR LES CONDUCTEURS DES LIGNES AERIENNES
Wind causes a conductor to oscillate over the whole of its length, in an irregular manner, and the stresses transmitted to the support are irregular functions of time. In the above article, the author studies the dynamics of an overhead conductor span in relation to the characteristics of the wind, and the stresses transmitted to the supports. By reason of the fact that the variations in pressure in relation to time are not fully shown at the supports, the real stresses are less than those arrived at by means of calculations. The experimental results have enabled this peculiarity to be demonstrated.
