HOW ROCK ISLAND CUTS LOSS AND DAMAGE

Tighter control of prevention efforts and better policing of loss and damage immediately after occurrence are paying off at the Rock Island Railroad. In 1970, Rock Island had an outlay of $10,074,000 for freight loss and damage. In 1971 the figure dropped to $7,865,000 and there is a good chance that the rate of reduction will continue, perhaps improve, when final figures for 1972 are cast up.
