FUNDAMENTALS OF SEA NAVIGATION
OSNOVY MORSKOGO SUDOVOZHDENIYA
This textbook deals with basic principles and methods of sea navigation required for navigation within the coastal and adjacent sea areas, on the large lakes, and large water reservoirs. It discusses the navigational aspects of the ship piloting, describes sea charts, navigation instruments and devices, the use of radio and navigational radar equipment, and briefly explains the principles of navigation astronomy (celestial navigation), and the plotting of the ships course. The textbook may be used by navigators of river vessels whose itinerary includes navigation under high sea conditions.
