ON THE IMPORTANCE OF TURBULENCE IN BOUNDARY LAYER SIMULATION
In the study of fluid mechanics of internal and external flow the importance of turbulence is often overlooked. Based on experimental results carried out to study the effect of turbulence within a range of identical velocity profiles on the performance of flow phenomena it is shown that it is necessary to simulate not only the mean velocity profile but also the turbulence characteristics of the approaching flow.
